Drug Recovery
You may be frustrated with the cravings of alcohol or drugs that are plaguing your mind, after you have gotten out of the addiction treatment program.
No matter how dismal of depressing that thought seems, however, you must remember that recovery is a process that takes time and there is nothing you can do to speed up the process of time.
Stay Busy.- Many recovering alcoholics and addicts often find it hard not to go back to their old lifestyles, but the one thing that can help greatly is to keep yourself occupied. You need to engage in activities that keep you positive and busy to prevent lapsing into a downward spiral.
Live Each Day to the Fullest! Never allow yourself to get to the point of desperation where you are trying to convince yourself that one more drink or high is not going to hurt you. Take a step back and think about how your recovery happens one day at a time. For simply keeping their heads above water, some people have to coax themselves to take a minute, an hour or even a day at a time.
Find New Behaviors- this is something that many addiction counselors will focus on, but what are you going to do when it should have been the time for your daily dose of alcohol, LSD, marijuana, or other drug? Finding something different to do and replacing that part of your day with something cleaner and better for you will help you in the long run!
Inform your family! The first people that recovering addicts should turn to are the very ones they avoid, they in fact often do not communicate these things with their families. These will help you get on the right track and give you the emotional support that you need!
